Lesson 15 of 28
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
Understand the Bible’s teaching that the one true God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
There is one God
Christian faith teaches one God—not three gods. God alone deserves worship.
Where to read: Deuteronomy 6:4–9.
Deuteronomy 6:4“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:”
Three persons
The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. They are distinct persons who share the one divine being.
Where to read: Matthew 3:13–17.
Matthew 28:19“Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
Working together
The Father sends the Son, the Son accomplishes salvation, and the Spirit applies God’s work in believers.
Where to read: Ephesians 1:3–14.
2 Corinthians 13:14“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.”
